Manufactured by FN under contract to Venezuela. This is a gas-operated semi-automatic with a fixed magazine that holds ten rounds, blued finish, walnut stock and hand guard. This model was introduced in 1949 and sold under contract to Venezuela. Features the crest on top of the chamber. Barrel is threaded for a flash hider (not present), the only FN 49 so equipped. Frame retains approximately 90% of black enamel coating. Not import stamped. Black enamel coating can be found on barrel bands and magazine as well. Stock is very good to excellent with usual dings. Fine bore and action. Fairly scarce contract model.
