Manufactured 1929. Like many Model 55's, a model that was introduced in 1924, a Model 1894 frame was used on this takedown rifle with a Model 55 forend assembly. Features full round barrel, half magazine, takedown, blued finish, walnut stocks, fluted comb, serrated steel shotgun buttplate, rear sling swivel. Receiver sight added, rear sight missing. Two sets of holes on top of barrel for tube sight, not plugged. Forend cap has two extended screws for sling attachment. Barrel retains approximately 70% original blue, starting to thin. Frame has flaked to approximately 30%, a problem very common during era. Stocks are excellent; varnish is starting to flake. Strong rifling. This rifle saw honest use.
