Manufactured by Mauser for unknown commercial or contract sales, this variation bears commercial proof mark "U" with crown, and not to be confused with the "banners" which bear both commercial and German acceptance proofs. Chamber is stamped 1936 with "Mauser" in banner stamped on toggle. Single visible "U" with crown acceptance stamp on left side of frame. These were made from 1936 to 1942, with this example being first year of production of this model. Features the full commercial rust blued finish with strawed and Nitre blued small parts. All matching numbers including both checkered walnut grips panels. Nickel magazine bears no markings of any kind. Pistol remains in phenomenal all original condition; shows almost no use. If there is a hint of high edge wear, it is not visible. Overall, 99% with brilliant straw and fire blue small parts. Checkered walnut grips are excellent with a few minor dings. Even the grip screws retain all of their Nitre blue finish. Fine bore and action. Excellent to near mint black leather holster by Romer, dated 1936, and marked with Waffenamt "WaA10". Loading tool stamped with Waffenamt Droop wing "65". Finest example of this early commercial model we have seen.
