According to the factory letter, this rifle was numbered on September 27, 1920 and shipped May 21, 1921 to Dodge & Seymour LTD. This cartridge was developed by Charles Newton, and at the time was one of the fastest cartridges available in a lever action rifle. Has the A5 barrel address used from 1919 to 1926; page 125 in the book "Savage Model 99 Rifle" by David Royal. Features silver bead front sight in base, Lyman two leaf folding rear sight (which was done at time of manufacture as there is no elevator line), blued finish, takedown, Lyman tang rear sight, cocking indicator, brass cartridge counter, checkered walnut pistol grip stock, Savage logo serrated steel shotgun buttplate, and case colored lever. Trigger is serrated and is not cross-hatched. All metal surfaces retain 98% of their expertly reapplied blue finish. Walnut stocks are excellent and proud to metal with sharp checkering, and no cracks at wrist. 70% case colors on lever. Strong bore and perfect action.
