Manufactured 1889. Standard Colt Lightning slide action rifle features full octagon barrel, full magazine, sporting sight base (missing blade), standard sporting rear sight, checkered walnut forend, walnut buttstock and rifle butt. Right side of frame missing back rear screw. Rifle has razor sharp edges and legends. Barrel and tube are a smooth homogenous blend of blue and soft patina, as is the frame. Checkered walnut forend is excellent with sharp checkering, rich wood. Walnut stock is excellent, proud to metal with no cracks. Period tang sight is present. Fine action. Strong, visible rifling with some minor black powder abrasion. An extremely clean, as-found, Colt Lightning .44 rifle.
