The Bullard lever action rifle, manufactured in Springfield, Massachusetts from 1886 to 1890, came in two frame sizes with this example being the large frame made for the same calibers as the big Colt pump rifle, as well as the 1895 Marlin and the 1886 Winchester. The gear mechanism was unique to this lever action and made for one of the slickest lever actions ever built. This is a deluxe rifle with full octagon barrel, full magazine, folding ladder rear sporting sight dated 1886, blued finish, beautiful deluxe checkered pistol grip walnut stock and Bullard logo black composite buttplate. Stamped "CAL .45" on front bridge. All of the metal surfaces on this rare rifle are a homogenous blend of blue and plum patina with some age freckling. It is unknown how many large frame Bullards were manufactured, but total production for all models was around 10,000. These fantastic lever actions are so scarce that many knowledgeable gun dealers traveling the circuit have never even seen one. Wood is excellent. Markings are sharp. Fine action. Strong visible rifling. If you've never handled one of these rifles, the smoothness of the action is something to behold.
