Factory records indicate this revolver shipped on August 9th, 1932 to Mr. Ezra S. Carpenter of Owl's Head, New York with a 6-1/2" barrel, Patridge front sight, blue finish and checkered walnut grips in a shipment of one gun billed at $30.08; "It is unusual to find a handgun shipped direct to an individual". Referred to as the .38-44 Outdoorsman Pre-War, introduced in November of 1931 with a square butt N target frame, five screw; this is a target version of the Heavy Duty with pin barrel, ejector shroud. Manufactured 1931 to 1941. Numbered in the .44 Hand Ejector series, this revolver was manufactured in 1938. Features a high pinned Marble front sight, target adjustable rear, and case colored hammer and trigger. Retains approximately 90% of the original factory high polish blue finish. Silver medallion diamond checkered walnut grips are numbered to gun on right panel. Hammer has patent date on back. Tight as new lock-up. Near mint bore. Total production of this scarce model was 4,761.
