This pistol was made in very limited, unknown quantities and closely resembles the Model 1826 North Navy pistol. It is believed that these were made for militia use and the main difference is the absence of belt hooks. Round smoothbore steel barrel is appropriately unmarked, and fitted in the front with a small brass half moon sight and oval rear sight on tang. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail. Other features include a brass pan and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with "J.J. HENRY/BOULTON". Standard Model 1826 type steel furniture, with the exception of a belt hook. Nearly full-length, plain walnut stock with steel swivel type ramrod. Very good condition, steel components retain a light grey patina and have some freckling and light scattered marks. Lock appears to be in original flintlock configuration. Stock has a few scattered marks from use. A rare variation of a seldom encountered contract pistol.
