There were 19,374 pistols of this model manufactured by Simeon North between 1817 and 1820. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "P/US" on left side of breech and "RJ" on right side, above touch hole. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section, brass pan, and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with second type markings "S. NORTH/U./eagle/S./MIDDLTN. CON." Standard Model 1816 steel furniture, sideplate, some screws, and barrel band stamped with inspector's mark "W". Walnut stock with replaced wooden ramrod, left side stamped behind sideplate with indistinct inspectors cartouche. Good condition, steel components retain an even brown reapplied finish with some minor freckling and scattered marks beneath finish. Lock has been professionally reconverted. Stock has scattered marks from use, some deep.
