There were only about 1,600 of the Model 1813 pistols manufactured by Simeon North between 1813 and 1815. This pistol is a transitional model, using the stock type of the Model 1816 and a .69 caliber 1813 barrel. It has been converted to percussion using the bolster method and a rounded hammer. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "P/US" on left side of breech. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section, lockplate stamped "S. NORTH" with traces of eagle and "U.S." Standard Model 1813/1816 steel furniture, sideplate, some screws, and stock stamped with inspector's mark "VI". Walnut stock with replaced wooden ramrod, left side stamped behind sideplate "LS" inspectors cartouche, probably for Luther Sage. Very good as found condition, steel components retain a brown patina with some corrosion at breech and on bolster and a few scattered marks from use. Stock has scattered marks from use, some chipping around buttcap, and a minor splinter on left side of forend.
