Circa 1730. This example is well made. Smoothbore steel barrel with chiseled chevrons and engraved scrollwork on top. Steel miquelet lock decorated en suite. Steel furniture and pierced steel panels inlaid on both sides of wrist, on butt, around barrel tang, and around trigger guard. Varnished plain walnut stock Catalan form is fitted with belt hook on left side and a with wooden ramrod with turned steel cap. Very good condition, all steel cleaned bright and stock is refinished. A few light scattered storage marks. Overall length is 17-1/4". This is a fine representative example of a 17th century Spanish miquelet.
