This is considered a New Model manufactured in the 1870's. Barrel is marked "J. STEVENS & CO. CHICOPEE FALLS MASSACHUSETTS PATENT SEPTEMBER 6TH". Features octagon to round barrel, sporting front and rear sight, working extractor, brass frame, square butt rosewood grips. Traces of plating on frame. Barrel is a blue-grey patina. Has an unnumbered detachable skeletal stock. Stock is adjustable. Does not fit in the groove; has external mounting system. Fine working order. Strong rifled bore. Stock does not appear to be a Stevens stock.
