The Legendary Frontiersman was introduced in 1979, in the .38-55 caliber, one of the original calibers for the 1894 Model. The Frontiersman featured a full round blue barrel and magazine, deluxe checkers, oil finished walnut stocks, antique silver finish and frame and forend cap with a blued lever, hammer, trigger and butt plate. The right side stock has the special nickel silver medallion. The frame is etched with early frontier themes such as bear, beaver, frontiersman and Indian. Similar theme on both sides. The phase "Legendary Frontiersman" appears in silver script on the barrel. A total of 19,999 were produced. This is considered by many to be the most handsome commemoratives ever manufactured. It remains in as new, unfired condition with all paperwork in the original Styrofoam box, decorative sleeve and original box of matching ammunition.
