Curved blade with partial single-fullers and partially blued on both sides with etched panels and gilt decorated and engraved designs. The right side displays a liberty poll, arms motif, a patriotic American shield, and an etched panel with an eagle holding an "E. Pluribus Unum" in its beak. The other side with foliage and an etched panel featuring a floral urn. Silver-plated brass reverse-P hilt with eagles head pommel, and fluted bone grip with ferrule at guard. Knuckle bow features a series of flattened cannon balls. Complete with original black leather scabbard, with silver-plated brass mounts. Blade retains about 80-85% fire-blued finish with some areas of scattered patina, and generous traces of gilt finish. Polished portion retains a spotted gray patina on one side, and most of polish on the other. Hilt retains approximately 40% of silver finish with exposed portions retaining an unpolished patina, and showing some wear. Grip excellent, with ferrule and pommel slightly loose. Scabbard is excellent, retaining almost all of original crazed black surface, with some scattered scuffs. Mounts retain generous traces of silver. This is a very nice and complete eagle pommel sword, with a unique hilt and blade.
