This sign is featured in the book "Winchester Rarities" by Tom Webster on page 58. The sign is 1/8" thick steel cut into the shape of a Winchester rifle and painted in white on both sides "Since 1866 Winchester Arms and Ammunition". Stamped into the stock is "Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven Conn." Stamped in the forend is "Founded 1866". Double sided, untouched patina, in excellent condition. Includes an original faded red wall mounted hanger with chains. An extremely fine example, one of the best, of this extremely scarce, highly desirable sign. The background color of this sign is red, and readily evident. The mounting holes are elongated, indicating this sign hung on this bracket for a long time. Shows obvious outdoor wear. Extremely early flange style sign. Includes associated paperwork.
Item Dimensions: 41-1/4" x 6".
