Factory letters state this gun was shipped to the Canadian Government of Ottawa, Canada on December 4th, 1915. This revolver was widely used by the Canadian forces during the first World War. It was built on the N frame with six shot and double action. Has matching serial number on cylinder and barrel. The gold medallion diamond checkered grips are in near mint condition with a fine fit but are not numbered. Left of barrel is stamped ".455". Left side of frame has Canadian proof mark. Cylinder has not been altered. Indexes and locks up perfectly both single and double action. Strong, near mint, shiny bore. Aside from a light drag line, light high edge wear and some muzzle wear, the revolver retains at least 95% original blue including straps. Vivid case colors on trigger and hammer. This is a fine example of World War I era Smith & Wesson Second Model Hand Ejector that escaped the ravages of war.
