According to factory letter, this revolver shipped on June 1st, 1898 to S. M. Taylor, no address listed. Shipped with 6 - 1/2" barrel, blue finish and checkered walnut grips as a New Model No. 3 Target in .44 Russian. The star by the serial number indicates it was returned to the factory for reworking or refinishing, and it has the refinishing date stamped on inside of grip frame of "6-21". This is a six shot, single action Target Model with a factory adjustable rear sight. Trigger guard has traces of color and hammer exhibits brilliant case colors. Sharp barrel legends. Frame retains 95% of factory applied blue. Barrel has 75% factory applied blue thinning at muzzle and sides. Cylinder has traces of blue but is basically a blue-brown soft patina. Both grip straps are grey patina. Matching serial number on latch and cylinder. The gold medallion diamond checkered walnut grips are very good to excellent but not numbered. Indexes and locks up like new with strong, clean rifled bore. Fine antique No. 3 revolver.
