Offered is a fine condition Stevens Model 44 single shot falling block rifle in caliber .25-20 Stevens Single Shot. Features part octagon barrel, folding Beach front sight, sporting rear sight, long range tang sight, blued finish with case colored frame, lever and buttplate; fire blued breech block, and walnut stocks. Barrel retains approximately 80% original blue just starting to thin. 90% Nitre blue on block. 85% bright colors on frame. Lever is toned. Traces of color on plate. Stock is excellent with usual impressions and small chip on right forearm. Fine action and strong, clean bore. Both barrels are numbered to the gun. The second barrel is part octagon with knife blade front sight, rear sight slot filler, additional walnut forend. Retains approximately the same amount of blue. Bottom of barrel under forearm is marked "2" for second barrel and is stamped "44/65". It appears as if this barrel has been turned into a smoothbore and does fit the .410 shell, but we are unaware of headspaces and would not recommend shooting without testing length of case. This outfit is housed in a custom walnut case lined in velvet with wood handled cleaning rod, oil bottle and keys. Rarely seen matching two barrel set in high condition.
