This musket was shortened during the period of use. Many of these Potsdam style Prussian muskets were used by both the Union and the Confederates during the Civil War. This example is dated 1831 at the breech and buttplate, which also has some unit or rack markings. The musket has brass furniture. Complete with brass-tipped wooden ramrod. Overall, shows scattered marks from use and light wear and corrosion. This is an interesting specimen that probably saw American use.
