Factory letter states this rifle was shipped April 18th, 1888 with a special order 26" full octagon barrel, set triggers, with Triple X fiery grain checkered stock with pistol grip, and case colored finish. In addition there is a Beach combination folding front sight, not listed, standard rear sporting sight, full magazine. Barrel retains approximately 75% original factory blue with balance mixed with patina and soft grey. Tube is a similar mix of blue-grey patina. Case colors on nose cap have patterned out. 30% original blue on dust cover. 80% Nitre blue on loading gate. Case colors on frame have basically patterned out with some traces in hidden areas. The deluxe finish walnut stocks are excellent to near mint with sharp original checkering and incredible grain. Buttplate has patterned out. Most screw heads are sharp with some slight marring on left sideplate screw. Strong, shiny bore and fine action. A lovely, untouched example of a deluxe 1873 Winchester.
