"The Babe Bows Out". This shot of Ruth's final appearance at Yankee Stadium ranks among the most famous sports photos in history. Photographed on June 13, 1948 by Nat Fein, it captures Ruth in his iconic #3 for the last time. The moving image won the Pulitzer Prize and is one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential images of all time. Image printed in the 1950's has almost a 3-D effect with perfect focus on Babe Ruth. You can certainly tell that Fein really put effort into making this copy particularly nice. The image is signed in the lower left "To John Curry, Best Wishes Nat Fein". The signature of Nat Fein itself is signed twice, like the first time it didn't take very well. The image itself is beautiful with some foxing in the upper left corner in the margin and a very minor crease in the left corner margin to be accurate. Oversized image measures 11" x 14". One would be hard pressed to find a nicer period copy. PSA/DNA letter deems the image a Type II with a note "Photo is a later issued 1950's example that was made off the "original" negative by Fein of the Pulitzer prize shot that he took in 1948 for the New York Herald tribune.
Item Dimensions: 14" x 11".
