This lot contains a Heer officer’s Leopard Head sword with red glass eyes. The 33” nickel plated blade is marked “Original Eickhorn, Solingen”, with the squirrel emblem present. This Eickhorn pattern sword is known as the “Scharnhorst” variant. The handguard has the Nazi Heer eagle on one side and is also marked “D.R.P.” underneath. The correct black painted steel scabbard is present. The unsharpened blade has several small nicks on the edge and scattered light marks. The brass handguard has about 50% of the gilt finish present. The wire wrapped plastic grip is missing a ½ inch oval area of material, exposing the grip core. The scabbard retains about 70% of its original black paint, with areas of spotting over about 15% of the finish. Overall in good condition.
