Unknown maker, Huntingdon, County, Pennsylvania. Heavy Octagonal steel target barrel is unmarked, sights on top flat. Rounded percussion lockplate with engraved scrolls and marked "RIDDLE" in a banner in the center. Double set triggers. Features 13 silver inlays and brass furniture including a four-piece patchbox with engraved scrolls on lid. Full-length figured maple stock of typical Huntigndon County form, incised-carved borders on each side of forend, terminating in scrolls. Rifle has been shortened during period of use. Barrel and lock retain a dark brown patina with some corrosion at breech and scattered marks, hammer spring is broken. Brass furniture retains a mellow unpolished surface, sideplate missing one screw. Stock retains a dry surface with scattered cracks from age, small losses around lockplate and barrel tang, and a few scattered marks from use. Replaced wooden ramrod. This rifle has excellent striping and is in as found condition.
