Factory letter states that this revolver was factory engraved, shipped with nickel finish and 4 - 3/4" barrel in .45 Colt to H&D Folsom Arms, New York on June 20th, 1907. Cuno Helfricht and his shop were the in-house engravers for Colt from 1871 to 1921. You can find similar types of engraving on page 280-281 and 287 in the book "Colt Engraving" by R.L. Wilson. Revolver retains approximately 98% of the expertly reapplied nickel finish with nice legends. It is basically a scrollwork design. The ivory grips are excellent, nicely toned with some age checking, and a carved steer head on right panel. Indexes and locks up like new. Strong, clean bore. This is a very handsome example of a classic Helfricht engraved Hog Leg.
