Listed as a Model 1882-85 Carbine. These carbines are so scarce, very few examples have ever sold. This example is in excellent all original condition. There is no estimation on how few were ever made. Features full round barrel, single barrel band, post front sight, military rear sight, patent date stamped on left side of frame, walnut half stock, detachable magazine with two grooves, rear sling swivel and carbine butt. The number "16" is stamped top of comb in buttplate; probably rack number. Barrel and frame retain approximately 75% blue mixing with brown patina with some added wiped on finish that does not detract from the beauty and rarity of this gun. Blue-brown patina on magazine. 90% blue on trigger guard. Walnut stocks are excellent. Fine, clean, rifled bore and action. No military inspector stamps. A tremendous and extremely rare military carbine.
