Sheffield 1929 maker's mark "G.M.", in the form of a large 17th century cup and cover with a bell shaped body tapering to chased stylized leaves and strap work with two harp scroll handles, the finial cast as a two-seat car, the front engraved "The British Double Twelve Hour Race, organized by the Junior Car Club The Winning Drivers Cup Brooklands May 9 & 10 1930 won by Woolf Barnato and F C Clement Car No. 2 (Bentley) speed 86.68 MPH" the other side engraved "Presented by Lord Wakefield of Hythe CBE 1930". Woolf Barnato was one of the Bentley Boys, a group of race car drivers famous for exploits on and off the track and promoting Bentley cars. Barnato owned Bentley Motors from 1925 to its liquidation and subsequent acquisition by Rolls Royce in 1931. Height: 15-1/2". Weight approx. 116 ozt. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
