19th century, the first, Hayne & Cater, London 1851, campana shaped with molded scroll handles. The body later chased with sailing ships, the other side with a vacant reserve, all above a lobed section and spreading foot with scrolls and shells, the slightly domed lid with a cast and chased shell edge and a cast figure of Poseidon seated with a trident; the second, Reily & Storer, London 1850, also campana shaped and with two scroll reserves between scroll handles, one engraved to "George Hinde Cripps from the Ceylon Civil Service and dated January 1850", the other crested, with a cast leafage rim and spreading foot chased with broad leaves; together with a tall plain cup with a milled floral edge and figural stem cast as an eagle with outstretched wings holding the base of the cup and on a domed base, marked "Sterling Silver" and with untraced marks. Repairs to first around handles. Height of first: 14-1/2". Total weight: 65.6 ozt. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
