This exact revolver was featured in a Rampant Colt article Fall 2002 shown with its original case and accessories (no longer present). Factory letter states it was shipped to the United States Navy on October 6th, 1861. Features matching numbers or partials on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, base pin, barrel and cylinder. Wedge is not numbered. Features six shot, round barrel and ratchet loading lever. Left side frame stamp not visible with the exception of "TS" in "COLTS". All metal is a freckled grey patina. Barrel address is gone. Cylinder scene not visible with scattered pitting. Brass has been cleaned. Walnut grips are decorated with ivory inset edges, Colt pony and dice. Inscribed at base "OLD SMOKY". Left ivory panel has been replaced and does not match photos. This revolver comes in a period tooled "Slim Jim" with hand stitched decorations, not marked. Quite an eye-catching first year production Navy Colt with post-Civil War folk art type decorations and rig.
