Manufactured for the British World War I contract 1915 to 1919. Left side of frame has the British corwn inspector stamp, in addition it is stamped "RAF" with an "X". Right side stamped "GOVERNMENT MODEL". Right side of slide is stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE .455". Left side of slide has the post-290000 stamped slide (1918) with British crossed sabers at left rear. Replaced parkerized barrel stamped "COLT .45 AUTO". Keyes brown plastic grips stamped on right panel, left is blank. Later small checkered trigger, later serrated arched mainspring, later spurless parkerized hammer. Has a pre-war style checkered safety and slide stop. Typical World War II rebuild, barrel and magazine switched to accept .45 ACP. Frame is basically grey patina with crown mark at right rear. Parkerized replacement barrel. Frame is not stamped "United States Property". 60% dulling military finish on frame. This World War I pistol was returned to the factory and went through a typical World War II rebuild using a mix of old parts. Has a later two toned tempered pinned base magazine. Typical example of a mix-matched World War II rebuild converted to .45 ACP.
