Round barrel with military blade pattern front sight and rear ladder adjustable rear graduated to 800 yards. Full length American walnut socks with forearms attached with three bands. Designed to accept the cruciform socket pattern Winchester bayonet. Equipped with two 1-1/4" military pattern swivels and carbine trap type buttplate. The Model 1892 Musket is one of the rarest of all contract arms with an estimated 1,000 units being manufactured in all available calibers. The noted Winchester authority George Madis has previously stated that the musket is also the rarest pattern of the 1892 Model produced. Very good overall with over 70% thinning blue finish remaining on receiver sides. Bottom of receiver is worn bright at balance point. Barrel retains approximately 30% thinning factory blue finish in more protected areas with balance worn bright. Bore is very fine with deep sharp rifling and bright bore. Two piece American walnut stocks are good overall with numerous small scratches and bruises that are to be expected. Three small hash marks have been carved into the butt just forward of the buttplate at left heel. The meaning remains unknown. This is a very fine example of the 92 Musket, a rarely encountered firearm in any condition.
