Transitional M1 Carbine with receiver made by Underwood and assembled by Winchester using all Winchester parts. Assembled using parts identified as push button safety, unmarked magazine release, "SS" marked unstaked flip rear sight, Type 1 band with no witness mark on stock, high wood "WRA/ GHD" cartouche with ordnance wheel and "W" two rivet hand guard. All internal parts are Winchester and is included a war time khaki unmarked sling with "IS" marked oiler. Very good overall with no import markings. No sanding is evident on stocks. Finish on barrel and receiver is very thin but appears 100% original. This is a very fine original Type 1 M1 Carbine. CORRECTION: From the collection of Kent V. Bissel.
