The First Model Match Target was only manufactured from 1938 to 1944 with approximately 15,100 made. Features a distinctive slab side barrel stamped "MATCH TARGET" with target on left side and the unique and beautifully streamlined checkered walnut grips with Colt silver medallions and extended base, referred to by collectors as "elephant ears". Other features include matte finish top (non-glare), highly polished Colt blue sides, high adjustable front sight, fine tuned adjustable target rear sight and serrated trigger. Magazine is a pre-war tempered two-tone that is stamped "MATCH TARGET MOD" in near mint condition. With a mere wisp of muzzle wear, retaining 99.9% of the beautiful Colt factory original finish. The grips, which are highly fragile, are in near mint condition with no cracks and razor sharp checkering. Near new inside and out. Includes original instructions. Worthy of a box. From the G.
