Full octagon barrel with a standard German silver blade insert front sight and buckhorn rear sight with serrated edges. Magazine is of a half magazine type. Forearm cap blued, receiver blued with a high nitre blued loading gate. Dust cover is blued. Hammer, trigger and lever are all case colored. Upper tang is mounted with a 62A (lollipop) sight. Third Model 1873 variation with integral dust cover rib. Standard grade American straight grain walnut with a case colored buttplate. Stock retains a four piece cleaning rod behind the trap door in buttplate. Octagon barrel retains 96% original blue with light scratches on left flat of barrel near the front sight. Nosecap retains 95% blue also with light scratches. Receiver left side retains 97% blue with only light edge wear showing, right side with a few light scratches on side plate. Receiver with small amount of surface discoloration. Loading gate with 98% strong nitre blue. Hammer is dark case colored at 96%. Lever mellowed out somewhat on bottom of lever to a light patina, dark case colors on the sides. Trigger sports a light patina. Lollipop sight retains 98% of its blue. The lower tang fits the receiver perfectly and condition of blue on lower tang between 90-95%. Buttplate retains 55-65% case colors with balance turning patina. Wood is with light scratches, few impressions, overall with no wood missing around receiver or upper and lower tang. Forearm has light impressions overall 90-95% finish remaining with no chips or missing wood. Screw heads all look very fine with the exception of the screw for the side plate. Bore bright and shiny with no apparent pitting. Mechanics are fine and rifle cycles properly. Shipped September 10th, 1887 as a .44 caliber octagon barrel rifle with half magazine.
