Full octagon barrel, top flat is matted, sporting a beaded front sight and a flat top rear sight. It is a takedown with half magazine. Forearm cap is blued. Receiver is blued. Loading gate is a high Nitre blue. Hammer and lever are case colored, trigger is blued. Stock is of a high grade American walnut, oil finish on stock and forearm. The octagon barrel has 95-97% blue with the address on the left flat of the barrel because of the matting on the top flat. Forearm cap retains 96-97% blue. The takedown collar retains 97-98% blue. Left side of receiver is 98% blue as the right side is 98% blue, 90-95% bright Nitre blue on loading gate. Hammer with 90-95% strong case coloring with a slight drag mark on the right side. Lever 85-90% strong case colors with the high parts of the lever silvering out. Upper tang indicates that it had a sight and left one unfilled screw hole. Bottom of receiver is 97% blue. No proof marks evident on either top of barrel or left side flat of barrel indicating that Winchester was not proof marking guns at this time. The stock is with very few light impressions and scratches overall with no chips of wood to indicate any damage. Forearm with a few compressions and light scratches. One small bruise to right side checkering. Extremely fine. Bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. Cycles properly, mechanics are fine. From the Ray Bentley Collection. CORRECTION: It has come to our attention that the receiver of this rifle has a professionally restored finish.
