Referred to as the Contract Model 1927. In 1927-28, the Argentine Army ordered 10,000 Colt Model 1911A1's to be built at Hartford and shipped; following this contract, the Argentine government licensed the 1911A1 for production at Rosario, Argentina at the government factory. The Argentine government built 74,866 pistols at the Domingo Matheu factory in Rosario. They are, in essence, a Colt clone with several minor differences, most of which are aesthetic. Gun (A) was one of the basic pistols manufactured at Rosario. The serial number can be found on frame, barrel and top and right side of slide. Right side of slide has the Argentine crest and standard slide for the Model 1927. In addition the right side of slide is stamped "CFS" for Consejo Federal de Seguridad (Federal Council of Security); research indicates there were only 100 pistols marked as such. Left side of slide is "D.G.F.M. [F.M.A.P.]". Features all the early Colt style checkered small parts including wide spur hammer. This pistol has had a couple of upgrades to include checkered flat mainspring housing, new Colt diamond checkered gold medallion grips, and a long aluminum lightweight adjustable trigger. This pistol retains approximately 95% of the reapplied matte blue finish. Left side of frame is stamped with import marks. Fine bore and action. Gun (B) is a standard military model manufactured at Rosario. Serial number is stamped on both sides of slide and right side of frame. Barrel is an un-numbered replacement. Left side of slide is stamped "D.G.F.M. [F.M.A.P.]". Finish is basically a matte gun metal finish with distinct temper line on slide. All Colt type small checkered parts to include short trigger, wide spur hammer and arched mainspring housing with loop. Sports Keyes type brown composite grips. Fine bore and action.
