The 1902 Luger Carbine was manufactured by Deutsche Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken Co. for commercial sales in Germany and abroad. Designed as a sporting weapon with a detachable buttstock. It was favored by Kaiser Wilhelm. The front contoured stock has an actuator in it that works with a lug on the bottom of the barrel to help bring the action back into battery. These guns took a cartridge with a greater powder charge to function the heavier barrel assembly. Front and rear stocks as well as the grips were finely checkered. Features include round barrel with ramp front sight. Three position rear sight at rear of barrel. Toggle action with the early type dished toggles and toggle lock. Early style breach block and flat main spring. Nickel seven round magazine with blank wood bottom. The gun retains approximately 90% of the original factory rust blue finish and 50% straw color. It does have some freckling on the barrel and action. Front and rear stocks show your typical dings and handling marks and have factory 3/4" sling swivels. Gun is all matching including the rear stock. Fair bore that shows some frosting. Comes in a contemporary leather bound case with green felt interior. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
