Offered is an extremely fine condition Colt U.S. Artillery revolver that was rebuilt at the Springfield facility from exiting Cavalry revolvers, reassembled and refinished with no regard to the numbers as the focus was on rebuilding base on quality and serviceability of existing parts. The frame of this revolver is No. 116348, is stamped "DFC" for David Clark, and was original an 1885 Cavalry. Barrel is No. 4214; trigger guard No. 17819J (Johnson sub-inspector); backstrap No. 69868; cylinder has a "DFC" inspector stamp, proof "P" and was No. 0?73. Grips were made for this gun; right panel is stamped with year of conversion 1900 date, "RAC" in script for Renaldo Carr, and bottom of both grip panels are stamped with "RAC" in block lettering. It is quite obvious this revolver once released for service saw light use. front sight remains untouched. Barrel and housing retain approximately 90% of the brilliant Colt blue finish. The cylinder retains approximately 80% of the bright blue. Frame retains approximately 30-40% case colors with some bright areas, balance has patterned out. Event he screws have most of their high polish blue. Frame is stamped with a three line patent address and "US". Indexes like new. Bright, clean, near mint bore.
