Only 15,340 examples of this revolver were made by Smith from 1886-1898. This example is factory blued with case colored hammer and trigger and chambered for the 44-40 (44 WCF) cartridge and sports a 6-1/2" barrel with Smith gutta percha grips and standard sights. All numbers are matching to include the cylinder, latch, barrel and scratched into the left grip panel. It has a mid-production four digit serial number "7660". This revolver remains in superb condition and does not appear to have seen much use. Overall, the gun retains approximately 75-80% bright original factory blue with no blemishes or flaws, the balance appears to have simply flaked or faded to a mix of plum patina with razor sharp edges. The lock up and bore are like new and tight as a drum. Grips are also near mint showing virtually no wear. Bright case colors on both hammer and trigger. This is one of the nicest examples of this revolver that we have ever offered and very tough to find a nicer blued example, chambered for the .44 Winchester cartridge.
