This rare factory cutaway falls into the serial range of other factory cutaway Roots: serial No. 17236 formerly in the Colt Factory Museum collection, and other specimens known bear 17117 and 17170. No. 17345 retains much original, bright factory finish. Cylinder scene is crisp where not cut away. Varnished walnut grips retain nearly all of their original Colt factory varnish with significant chip at toe and some minor dents. Hammer retains much original case colors. Screws retains nearly all of their nitre blue. Loading lever retains considerable case colors. Bore is like new. An extremely rare revolver for the advanced Colt collector. CORRECTION: .28 caliber with a 3-1/2" barrel length
