A superb exhibition factory engraved Colt Single Action Army, serial number 53441, from 1880. Factory 1-piece pearl grips, in its original English-style oak factory casing. This splendid, almost full coverage, factory engraved Single Action is one step below a panel scene gun in the luxuriousness of its factory engraving. Frame has nearly full coverage and the cylinder is engraved in flutes, as well as a large band at rear- and if that is not enough, the hammer itself is beautifully engraved no both sides with scrolls. Barrel retains most of its original factory nickel plating, with a few minor dark spots. Ejector rod housing has considerable steel showing where the nickel is missing, but the engraving is very crisp. Frame has nearly all its original factory nickel, with perfect markings. Cylinder retains nearly all of its factory bright nickel, with only minor losses. Backstrap has nearly all its original nickel plating, with lovely shell engraving. Trigger guard has nearly all is original nickel except where it meets the grip, which is mostly a very pleasing steel color. All screws retain most all their bright niter blue. Hammer retains virtually all its bright nickel plating with almost no lifting. Bore is mirror bright and gun appears to be test fired only. Factory pearl grips fit perfectly, with no significant chips and display excellent fire. Case is in excellent condition, with only a few minor nips to original green felt lining. Colt's Pall Mall instruction label in lid is original. Formerly in the world famous collection of German industrialist Karl Press. This beautiful revolver is pictured in the Colt literature, and would grace the collection of the most advanced collector of Colt Single Actions.
