Repair to area of horse's rear haunch, inpainting to haunches and foreground. Canvas stabilized and cleaned, relined. Damages to gesso throughout the frame, some additional pieces are present but not attached. Provenance: By decent through a Philadelphia family to the current owner. CORRECTION: From the private collection of Dorothy Merle-Smith Pyle and David Hunter McAlpine Pyle of ‘Hunter Hollow’, Far Hills, NJ. Dorothy Pyle was also known as one of the “Galloping Grandmas” of The Essex Fox Hounds, circa 1949. Hunter Hollow was sold to Malcolm Forbes who passed away at ‘Timberfield’, the family home at Hunting Hollow. By descent through the Pyle family to the current owner.
