Not examined out of frames. Portrait of Thomas Afsheton Smith with overall light toning, each with minimal spots of foxing, generally good to very good. Provenance: From the private collection of Dorothy Merle-Smith Pyle and David Hunter McAlpine Pyle of ‘Hunter Hollow’, Far Hills, NJ. Dorothy Pyle was also known as one of the “Galloping Grandmas” of The Essex Fox Hounds, circa 1949. Hunter Hollow was sold to Malcolm Forbes who passed away at ‘Timberfield’, the family home at Hunting Hollow. By descent through the family to the current owner.
