IN A VINYL GUN CASE WITH "S.W.C.P.L. 3rd PLACE TEAM" PRINTED ON OUTSIDE.SMITH & WESSONK-2268650022 LRMODERN; C&RCal. 22 LR, 6" bbl, blue finish, checkered highly figured walnut grips. One of only 1,067 K-22s made in 1940. Short action, micrometer click sight, Patridge front sight. SNs match on bbl, cyl, and frame. Inscribed on bbl "PRESENTED TO T.J.E. KEELER INITIAL PRESIDENT S.S.F.D." S.S.F.D. stands for South Salem Fire Department. South Salem is in New York near Connecticut line. Vinyl case is marked "S.W.C.P.L." which stands South West Connecticut Pistol League. Timothy J.E. Keeler was president of the S.S.F.D. 1938-1939. PROVENANCE: Accompanying this revolver is a letter from Smith & Wesson historian Roy Jinks confirming bbl length, finish, cal, and grips. Showing a single-gun shipment to Stoeger Arms Co., New York City on May 15, 1940. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl shows considerable bright blue finish with minor muzzle wear and slight touch-up near inscription. Front sight has some touch-up. Bbl address is sharp. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Cyl shows a considerable amount of blue with some high point wear and slight drag mark. Chambers are very good. Frame shows most of blue finish with some high point wear. Hammer and trigger show partial case color finish. Grips are very good with sharp checkering and fine S&W medallions. 49583-8 TEP (1,000-2,000)
