WINCHESTER MODEL 1890 PUMP ACTION RIFLE ENGRAVED AND GOLD INLAID WITH FANCY STOCKS.WINCHESTER189049477522 WRFMODERN; C&RCal. .22 WRF. 24" bbl, blue finish. Checkered fancy walnut stocks. Engraved and gold inlaid. CONDITION: Very fine as refinished. Bbl retains 98% blue finish with a single gold band at the muzzle and two gold bands at the breech. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receiver retains 98% blue finish with very little evidence of wear. Trigger guard has 98% blue finish with a few small scratches. Stocks are highly figured varnished walnut with checkered grip and forend. Buttplate shows 99% blue finish. Receiver has a vignette of a squirrel on the left side surrounded by scroll and gold line bordering, right side shows a vignette of a rabbit with scroll and gold line border, all expertly accomplished. Top of bolt and breech of receiver also show fine scroll engraving. This rifle was engraved in the early 1990''s by George Sherwood of Roseburg, OR., and is signed "Sherwood Engraved" in front of trigger guard. Pictured in "The Book of Custom Firearms Engraving" by Tom Turpin, a copy of the article comes with the gun. Very pretty rifle. 49513-7 TEP (2,000-3,000)
