L.C. SMITH GRADE 2 IN HIGH CONDITION.L.C. SMITHGR. 230502310 GaMODERN; C&RCal. 10 Ga. 32" chain Damascus bbls. 2-7/8" chambers. Choked: FULL/MOD. Full length matted rib with brass front bead and silver inlay at breech end, marked "HUNTER ARMS CO. FULTON, NY." Double triggers, extractors, automatic safety. Beautifully figured walnut stock with capped pistol grip with 14-1/4" LOP over serrated hard rubber buttplate. Buttstock checkered in classic 2-point pattern. Splinter forearm with ebony dog''s head escutcheon and triangular ebony tip, checkered in 3-point pattern. Receiver engraved in standard later Grade 2 pattern with quail surrounded by light scroll on left and ducks in marsh scene on right surrounded by scroll. Bottom of receiver lightly scroll engraved, as is trigger guard bow. Top of frame and top lever also lightly scroll engraved. Buttstock with very old drilled hole behind pistol grip cap for sling swivels. Weight: 11 lb 0 oz. PROVENANCE: The Estate of B.E. "Andy" Anderson. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine. Bbls retain nearly all of their restored chain Damascus pattern, restored by Keith Kearcher. Receiver retains nearly all its bold and dark orig case color, just starting to tone on high points with minor corrosion on fences. Trigger guard retains 85-90% orig blue. Forearm iron retains 75-80% orig blue. Buttstock and forearm retain 95-98% orig varnish with light handling marks. Forearm with a minor chip near frame on left side. Checkering is sharp and crisp. Mechanics are excellent. Bright shiny bores with a rough spot or two in right tube. A beautiful high condition big bore Smith. 49531-25 JSL152 (1,500-2,500)
