EARLY 20 GAUGE BROWNING GRADE IV SUPERPOSED ENGRAVED BY V. DOYEN WITH CASE. BROWNING SUPERPOSED GRADE V 8290 20 GA MODERN (1954) Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 26-3/8" Bbls marked for skeet and skeet, are fitted with narrow, ventilated rib, marked with early Browning St. Louis address with steel and chamber information on left, with Browning patent information and "MADE IN BELGIUM" on right. Coin finished action with non-automatic safety and gold plated single selective trigger, is engraved in what was to become "Diana" style with semi-relief scrolled strapwork with acanthus highlights surrounding game scenes; five pheasant on left side, four mallards on right. A pair of quail fly across bottom of action and two rabbits are on trigger guard bow. Bottom left scene is signed "V. Doyen". Nicely streaked European walnut round knob long tang buttstock measures 14-3/16" over horn Browning buttplate. Point pattern checkering with line borders is at grip. One piece field forend matches well. Bore diameter: top -.610, bottom -.610. Bore restrictions: top -.004 (skeet), bottom -.004 (skeet). Drop at heel: 2-7/16", drop at comb: 1-9/16". Weight: 6 lbs 12 oz. LOP: 14-3/16". Early Tolex case by Browning with blued hardware is lined in dark blue velvet. PROVENANCE: Rod Fuller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining nearly all of its orig finishes on wood and metal, with a few light marks on bbls. Coin finish of action has some light flaking and some darkening underneath. Stocks have some minor pings and rubs and finish is lightly crazed. Gold plate on trigger is excellent with a light rub on left. Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent, and smooth. Case exterior is very fine with some rubs on trim, and light soiling. Interior is very fine with some rubs and compressions, and a missing block in bbl compartment. 49114-19 MGM161 (6,500-9,500)
