20 GAUGE HOLLAND & HOLLAND DOMINION GRADE SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE.HOLLAND & HOLLANDDOMINION3448520 GAMODERN(ca 1953) Cal. 20 ga. 28" Dovetailed bbls are engraved "Dominion" on swamped concave game rib, and with "Holland & Holland" and "98, New Bond Street. London." on tops. Bbl flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2-1/2" chambers, which has been struck out, and with subsequent London re-proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with SNs. Small, case hardened, round bodied action fitted with back action sidelocks, features automatic safety (SAFE gold inlaid) and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with about 60% coverage well cut medium scroll with rose bouquet highlights. "Holland & Holland" is at the bottom of each lockplate. Bottom of action is engraved "DOMINION" "MODEL". Left head of hinge pin is engraved "MADE IN ENGLAND". Blued top lever and trigger guard have matching scroll engraving. SN is at grip. Nicely marbled and stump figured dense European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/8" over black leather covered pad. Typical point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grip. A vacant gold oval is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.611, right -.612. Bore restrictions: left -.013 (mod), right -.006 (IC). Wall thickness: left -.034, right -.033. Drop at heel: 2-5/16", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Weight: 6 lbs 2 oz. LOP: 14-3/8". Orig makers brown canvas case with stitched leather trim is embossed "M. K. M." on top. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth with silver embossed black leather label in lid, along with instruction label and charge card for this gun. Case contains 2-pc walnut and brass cleaning rod with mop, brush, and jag, H&H marked round oil bottle, tweezers type broken case extractor, and some Parker Hale cleaning patches. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished. Bbls retain nearly all of what appears to be orig black, with some light marks. Action and lockplates retain nearly all of what appears to be their orig case hardening color, which is quite strong and vibrant, silvered a bit on bottom of action. Top lever and trigger guard appear to be sympathetically re-blued over a few light marks. Stocks retain most of their orig hand rubbed oil finish with some raised grain, and a few marks and dings. Butt portion had a light refinish at time of installation of new pad. Bores are excellent. Action is just a bit loose, and bbls a bit off face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case exterior is fine, canvas slightly faded and stained. Leather trim beginning to detach. Handle is fine. Interior cloth is fine with some light staining and a bit of mildew. Labels are very fine, instruction label considerably foxed, charge card lightly foxed. Accessories are good. A well balanced British small bore. 49469-3 MGM187 (8,000-12,000)
