CLASSIC DICKSON ROUND ACTION GAME GUN. JOHN DICKSON & SON TRIGGER PLATE 5622 12 GA. MODERN; C&R (1904) Cal. 12 ga. 2-1/2" Chambers. 29" Bbls have been expertly and almost invisibly sleeved, and are fitted with narrow, concave game rib engraved "John Dickson & Son 63 Princes Street. Edinburgh". "1" is engraved at rear portion, and also engraved on top lever, and inlaid in silver on central diamond of forend. (Factory records indicate that this gun was paired with gun "5702" ten months later.) Bottoms of bbls are stamped with London nitro proofs at 3 tons and for 2-1/2" chambers. Case hardened, slim, round bodied, trigger plate, ejector action features automatic safety (SAFE gold inlaid), pivoting third bite, and double triggers. Action is engraved with classic rose and scroll, as usually executed by Jack Sumner. "John Dickson & Son" is on each side. Scroll engraved top lever and trigger guard are blued. SN is at grip. Nicely marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8" over checkered wood butt, and features diamond hand, standard point pattern checkering with mullered borders, and gold oval on toe line engraved "W. M. L". Matching splinter forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.731, right -.731. Bore restrictions: left -.018 (mod), right -.010 (IC). Wall thickness: left -.025, right -.026. Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Weight: 6 lbs 3 oz. LOP: 14-5/8". CONDITION: Excellent, as refurbished. Bbls retain nearly all of a satin rust blue, most likely applied at time of sleeving. Engraving slightly softened. Action retains over 80% of a sympathetic color re-hardening, again engraving slightly softened. Top lever and trigger guard retain nearly all of their re-blue. Stocks retain over 90% of a hand rubbed oil finish with several light marks, a few a bit deeper, wood slightly below metal, checkering re-cut. Bores are excellent with one or two small dents. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Right ejector will not set. All in all, a good shootable Dickson, given a new lease on life with a well done sleeving job. 49305-10 MGM125 (6,000-9,000)
