EARLY AMERICAN COUNTRY BIRCH WING CHAIR.First half 19th Century, possibly New Hampshire. The rectangular back with arched crest rail joined to shaped open arms terminating in dramatically scrolled hand grips, centering the wide trapezoidal seat frame. The arms on baluster turned supports, continuing to square legs. All joined by a simple rectangular box stretcher. Exposed surface of frame with remnants of red wash, otherwise with mellow honey patina. SIZE: Height of back: 45" Height of seat: 14" Overall width: 30" Depth: 25-1/2" CONDITION: Structurally very good. Surface cleaned. 49922-26 HMG (600-800)
