There is a sliding safety on left side of hammer. SN is stamped on upper tang, inside of receiver, on bottom of bbl breech and on operating lever. All numbers match. A 7-digit number is written VERY LIGHTLY on bottom of receiver on right side probably as a result of "Operation Identification" in 1960s. Buttstock has a single sling swivel. There are no apparent marks on buttstock. Brass buttplate is also unmarked. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. "Bill" Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains nearly all of leather cover with only slight damage to bottom rear. Sights are good. Bore is dark with strong rifling. Receiver is a gray-brown patina overall with slight traces of case coloring on upper tang. Markings are clear. Hammer and lever are a gray-brown patina. Stock is very good with numerous dents and handling marks overall and a small crack at rear lower tang. Buttplate is a mellow mustard patina. A very good Sharps & Hankins Navy carbine that is usually not found with bbl cover intact. 49973-38 TEP (1,000-2,000)
